Mabey more than any other company, Sony has gotten the whole "Loop " construction of music going. Sony became the real deal with its introduction of ACID loops and the various versions of software that used them. Sony's latest creation ACID Pro 6, takes it far beyond just a hobby musicians tool into a powerful DAW more than able to compete with Stienberg and Pro Tools software. Here is a quote from their website. "In the world of digital music creation, ACID Pro software has always stood out from the crowd. Its automatic loop time-stretching and tempo-matching technology is second-to-none, and its straightforward pick, paint, and play functionality has helped make ACID Pro software the favorite loop-based music creation tool for millions of users worldwide." What has really changes with ACID Pro 6 is the integrated multitrack recording, and fully functional midi capabilities. I have used all types of recording software and am starting to really respect companies like sony and cakewalk for not only creating great DAW's but also for their inclusion of extras that the more nominal competitors do not include. In Sony's ACID Pro 6, they include 1000 (yes) one thousand loops to get you going. (And once you go through those come to my website The Loop House for some more free loops) ![]() So if you are looking for software that will do it all for a decent price $299.99 (May 1st, 2008) then Sony acid pro 6 may be a great choice. The only reason I could think that it may not work for someone is if they worked with multiple studios running Pro Tools, in that case mabey ProTools Le may be the answer. Lately though, I prefer value for money as opposed to "standards and popularity", so for me Sony's ACID Pro 6 rocks. Back to DAW page |
